Different editions

  • The Vanishing Thieves was originally issued by Simon & Schuster's Wanderer imprint in 1981 using the "Window Pane" cover art.
  • Minstrel Books reissued the book in 1987 with new cover art, and again in 1992.
  • Grosset & Dunlap added this volume, along with volumes 59-65, to the Classic Hardy Boys series in April 2005. Grosset & Dunlap used the cover art for the Wanderer edition on the front cover of the reissue, although the cover has been modified by being blown up and cropped to be rectangular so that it looks like the rest of the Grosset & Dunlap books. The Wanderer window has been eliminated.
