American Teens Against Crime (ATAC) is an organization co-founded by Fenton Hardy. He enlisted his sons, Frank Hardy and Joe Hardy as ATAC's first agents. ATAC sends mission details by a video game disc. The boys have a special video game console that play the CDs and regular video games. The discs are formatted to regular music discs once viewed. The discs, once sent back, are recycled. In one of the books, a secret handshake is shown: Two hard up-and-down shakes, then a wrist grab, following a fist touch, and then one last up-and-down shake.
